Official Day One

Well folks, we started early — that’s about par for us. We can’t help it. We get excited and can’t wait to get started. So we loaded up, checked everything, put the dogs in the truck, kissed the grand boys, and left.

I (Shelley) mentioned in a post to our Facebook page, that we had made it as far as Ferdinand, Indiana. If you’re on Facebook, be sure to Like our page. I’ll post links to posts made here, but you can also subscribe to this blog so you’ll get email notifications whenever we make blog posts.

The Ferdinand Wendy’s manager and workers were so friendly and kind when we stopped in for some grub. They weren’t closing, but we could tell it was close. Regardless, they fed us and when we told them what we were doing and asked if we could stay on their parking lot, they said, “Absolutely!”

So here we are, Tuesday, October 25, 2022. Our first official day on the road.

We woke up to a tree frog crawling its way across the wall of the camper. 🤣 I have no idea when or where the little guy came in. What I do know is, Mr. Don said, “I’ve been watching him since I woke up. He started out over there by you.” We lost him for a couple of minutes before we realized that he was jumping from couch to pillow to box of Kleenex. We finally caught him and set him free.

We got ourselves ready for the day, fueled up the truck and our bellies (McDonald’s is great in a pinch), and got out on the road! Georgie tried his boundaries by jumping up on the dash, but decided after knocking his little apple head on the windshield, that Mom’s lap was much better. 😂 That is, until Dad came back with eggs. Both Georgie and Tootsie are learning to be good travelers.

We are currently heading to Afton, Virginia, which we’re about 450-miles from where the Blue Ridge Parkway begins.

If you’re following us, thanks for coming along on our road trip. I’m sure we will all learn a bunch as we travel with this little camper.

Stay tuned! As soon as we get on the BRP we will be posting pics and places. Maybe it will inspire you to take a road trip!

Until the next post, travel friendly!
